My Final Blog Post

I have been learning a lot of tips to be successful in the future since the first day of Hixson Seminar. I have learned successful business skills, more about myself, how social media is effective, how to manage debt, and about different cultures. By learning all of these topics, I have grown into a better rounded individual. By learning all of these skills I will have more knowledge and someday live a comfortable life.

During our seminar we had a guest speaker and she taught us how to make a good impression to possible employers. I now know how to create a quality resume and give a quality handshake. These are important skills to have because it could lead you to your next job. This semester I also did a survey called the MBTI survey which made it more clear for me to recognize the person I really am. The survey said I was organized and liked to have my day planed out before it starts. Also, I am a person who is not talkative and considered shy. I feel like this survey helped me meet more people that had the same personalities as me.

I learned that social media can actually help find a job. Companies join Twitter in order for people to fallow them and eventually get in touch with them about interviews. Facebook is also a way to stay in touch with possible employers because they may post activities going on within the company. Debt was also a topic a learned about this semester. I learned how to manage finances and minimize debt. I learned more about FAFSA and how it helps my family and I. This class made it so I had to have an open mind because I attended a cultural event that was different from our culture. It was good for me to be open minded that night because I am not more accepting of other people and were they come from.

As you can see, I have grown in a variety of ways from learning about different cultures to managing finances. This class has been great for me because I have acquired new skills that will lead to my success in the future.

My fifth blog post

The Hixson award means a lot to me and my future life. This award means a lot to me because it will help me pay part of my way through college. This award has also made me a better person. I have learned many things by going to class on Tuesday night and recitation on Thursday mornings. I know that this award will also make me a better person after college too.
The main reason the Hixson Award is so important is because it will help make my way through college financially. I would not enjoy paying all of those student loans off after college. I feel that with this award, I will be able to make it through college debt free and I will be ready to pursue my career without having to pay debts and interest. The Hixson award also makes it easier on my parents. My parents are helping me pay for college and the award also means a lot to them.
I feel that the Hixson award has also made me a better person. I have learned many skills while at UST 101A such as leadership, bonding, stress free techniques, and volunteering. I have learned that employers are looking for the people who have been involved at college and people who display many leadership skills. With all of these skills I have learned, I will be able to construct a strong resume for my future employers. It’s not just that these skills will help me now, but these skills will stay with me forever.
All in all, The Hixson award means a lot to me because it is helping me pay my way through college and it is making me a better person. With the money I am earning from this award; my parents are able to afford other necessities for our family instead of paying for my college.

My Fourth Blog Post

During the social media week, I opened up a Twitter account and began tweeting. I tweeted ten times about education and ten tweets on topics I chose. Twitter is a way for people to tweet about interesting things and make new friends. I also read a number of articles about social media that were interesting to me. Social Media is the future and will help people accomplish tasks.

During social media week I took part in twitter. I was never a part of twitter previous to this and I learned many things about twitter. One of the things I learned was that social media is a way to interact with new people and a way to fallow businesses and pro athletes that interest me. I felt odd at the beginning of using twitter because I didn’t know what to tweet about. I began fallowing other people and saw how they were tweeting, so this was a good way to learn what to tweet. I began to become a fluent tweeter and had fun tweeting about my day and other miscellaneous things going on. Social media will help me reach goals in the future such as making new friends while at college. Twitter is a way to find other people who have the same interests as me. Twitter will also fulfill another goal of mine which is to have a career when I graduate. On Twitter, I can get my name out to businesses in my career and they also put job openings on Twitter.

I also read seven articles on social media during social media week. I learned many new insights while reading these articles. Most of the articles were about Twitter while one was on Facebook. I found it interesting that someone one can log onto either Twitter or Facebook when they are down and it could potentially pick up their mood. In the article, “Mexico Turns to Social Media for Information and Survival", I learned that terrorists in Mexico tweeted that the school were under attack. I thought that this was a terrible idea to post on Facebook because it was a false rumor that imprisoned them. I also learned that Twitter can help you become a more successful entrepreneur by building yourself up with Tweets.

As you can see, social media week was a fun time for me because I engaged in Twitter for the first time. I also learned many new insights from the articles I read on social media. Twitter is more than social media; it will help me to find a job opening and make new friends.

SMART goals

The two goals I have chosen to represent my smart goals are climbing Mount Mckinley and moving to Estes Park, Colorado and having my own house built. Both of these goals are soecific becasue I know the mountain I want to climb and I know the specific town I want to live in. Both of my goals are measurable because they both will need great determination and motivation. I believe these goals are also attainable because I have climbed numerous mountains and I will have the drive to reach the 20,320 foot summit. Moving to Estes Park will also be attainable because I will be able to raise enough money to make the move. I am going to have to work my way up to making these gaols a reality by climbing mountains each month and buying my own house in Iowa first and then gradually make enough money to head west. My goals are also time bound because my goal is to summit Mckinley before I am 50 and live in Estes Park by the time I am 32.

My third post

The MBTI survey told me a lot about myself. My results said that I was ISFJ which means I fall under the introversion, sensing perception, feeling judgment, and judging categories of the MBTI survey. The survey put a better perspective on my personality for me to understand why I have the feelings I do. My survey results also relate to my goals I set in my previous blog post.

I realized I am considered a introvert person becasue I have a quiet personality and I am reflective on my thoughts. I consider what Im going to say before I say it becasue I do not want to hurt anyones feelings or say the wrong thing at the time of the conversation. I also have a sensing perception which means I pay attention to detail and I am always in the present moment. An example would be that I always have to have my room and car clean. I am a person who judges by my feelings. Applying personal priorities first is one of the reasons I am considered a person who reasons with feeling. The last letter to my type is "J" and it is for judging. I am a person who has a list and has everything planned out for my week or month. I also have many goals set forth as I continue my life.

My goals from my last blog post relate to my MBTI results in many ways. An example would be that I want to get all my work as a pharmacist done and retire before I travel the world. I do not like to play and have fun when there is work to be done because I feel like I am wasting valuable time. Another example would be that I have everything set up in order of time on my last blog post. This relates to my MBTI survery saying that I like to be organized and have a schedule. The MBTI survey and my bucket list go hand and hand in describing who I am.

In conlusion, I am a person who manages facts and details, has a controlled orderly outer life, and is hard working. The MBTI survey helped devine my persoanlity to me. The survey also explains why some of my goals are the way they are.

My second blog post

I have many goals or a "bucket list" set out for my future life and my career at Iowa State University. My goals all lead to my personal success and what I view as a succesfull life. I hope I live to be about 65 years old with good health, so I will be informing on my goals from now and on to my senior years.

While at Iowa State, I would like to graduate from kinesiology and health in four years. I will achive these goals by studying on my own time for classes and giving 100% effort in each and every once of my classes. Another goal while in college is to be a part of a team that wins the intramural basketball championship. I would have a lot of fun being on a championship team and would make many new friends if I were to accomplish this goal. At Iowa State, I want to be the leader or president of a group or club. By being a president I would develope good qualities such as leadership and dependabilty.

I have numerouse goals for my life after Iowa State such as graduating from pharmacy school and starting my career at a local pharmacy. I plan to graduate from pharmacy by studying for classes and dedicating most of my time to learning medicine. I will prepare for starting my career at a pharmacy by being proactive. I beleive that this career feild will lead to the life that I would like to live. Other "to-do's" in my bucket list include, getting married, having two or three children, owning and operating my own weight room, having a nice comfortab1e house, and having enough money to live comfortably. My goal is to retire at the age of 60 and tour the world in and RV and a yacht.

As you can see, I have a variety of goals on my "bucket list". I have set goals for myself at Iowa State so I have something positive to strive for. I also have goals for my future life to become successful.

My 1st blog post

I was at my best when I was in high school. I did my best in sports and academics, but when I was at my all time best was during my senior year of football. I had a great time with my friends and we were a good football team. Because I was at my all time best while in high school, I believe I can repeat this and be at my all time best in college as well.
While in high school I was at my best in sports and academics. I played football, basketball, track, and baseball. School was also a time when I was at my best because I made the honor roll each semester and was a part of National Honor Society at my school. All of these where times when I was at my best but football during my senior year was the time when I was at my absolute all time best. During my senior year my team went 11-1 and we made it to the state quarter finals. I felt I was at my all time high because I made the all conference team and I was All-State. Even though we did not win state last year, I still feel I was doing the best I could.
I plan to carry over my all time high into my college atmosphere. I would like to have my new all time best be this year by getting straight A's in my classes and joining numerous clubs. I would feel I was at my best by doing this things because I would feel i was getting the right start to my future career. Clubs and other activities would help me feel good about myself becasue being involved on campus puts me in a positive mood.
In conclusion, I was at my all time high while in high school football and I would like to transition that over to my first semester in college. High school football was a time that i had fun with my team meates and we made it a long way into the playoffs. I hope to repeat that this year in college by joining clubs and participating in on campus activities.
